About us
Welcome to Gyaan Yatra, a dynamic online community connecting people across the world. Founded in 2008 by Asian Foundation for Philanthropy, Gyaan Yatra was designed to encourage dialogue on global issues and raise awareness about them. At Gyaan Yatra we give you a chance to debate and share your views on issues that affect us all- from corruption to environmental pollution, from health to education, from gender bias to linguistic diversity and the list is ever growing. On our website you can voice your opinions, start a discussion forum, cast your vote on a topic, keep yourself up-to-date with our latest events and buzz with a diverse audience. And you have it all at your fingertips!
How do we work?
We use Millennium Development Goals and other Cross-cutting issues as a framework to explore what causes poverty and what is being done to improve the lives of millions of people around the world.
Gyaan Yatra aims to be a platform for opinions on the theme of international affairs. At Gyaan Yatra we believe in creating new ways for people to share, learn and collaborate. And learning doesn’t always have to come at the expense of fun. We engage people in an interactive and fun environment – be it our competitions, films, interviews or live events- we always strive to make learning a participatory and enjoyable experience.
Who is a Development Ambassador?
A Development Ambassador (DA) is a volunteer, who is part of our developement leadership programme. In this year-long course, the volunteers are trained to actively engage their communities to raise awareness on global issues. The leadership programme exposes the participants to various socio-political issues outlined in the MDGs and also equipps them with techniques to get the message across. Interested to find out more?
